口腔保健学科
を知る
- 「口腔保健学科」とは？
- 歯科衛生士養成機関の多くが、「歯科衛生士専門学校」や「歯科衛生学科」の名称を用いています。
「歯科衛生」と聞くと、「歯を綺麗にする」と捉える方がほとんどです。しかし、歯科衛生士の仕事は「歯を綺麗にする」だけではなく、お口の機能（噛むことや飲み込むこと）を維持、改善させることにより、お口の健康を保ち全身の健康に繋げることも重要な仕事です。
このような幅広い業務をこなせる人材を養成する学科ということで、4年制大学の殆どが「口腔保健学科」の名称を用いています。 - 4年制歯科衛生士養成機関は何校？
- 我が国で初めて4年制の歯科衛生士養成機関が設置されたのは2004年（平成16年）で、これまでに14校が設置されました。西日本（9校）の方が、東日本（5校）よりも多いです。
- 3年制と4年制はどう違う？
- 3年制では国家資格を取得することがゴールです。
4年制でも国家資格を取得することが主目的になりますが、診療所に加えて、病院、歯科衛生士養成機関、保健所、福祉施設、企業など多様な職場で活躍できる歯科衛生士を養成することがゴールになります。その結果、これらの職場では4年制卒の歯科衛生士が多く採用されています。

歯科衛生士が求められる
理由
- 01大学卒の歯科衛生士は
まだまだ希少価値あり！ - 大学卒の歯科衛生士の数はまだとても少なく、令和2年3月に発表された「歯科衛生士の勤務実態調査報告書」によると、最終学歴は「歯科衛生士専門学校」:76.3%、「短期大学」:10.4%、「大学」:5.7%でした。
- 02卒業時に
「学士号」が
授与される - 「大卒・学士」という肩書は、将来自分がやりたいことができたときに役立ちます。例えば、大学院に入学するには大卒（学士）である必要がある病院や公務員として働く場合、大卒のほうが給料が高い・歯科衛生士以外の仕事に就く場合にも、応募要件が大卒以上の企業も多いので有利です。
- 03給料・年収が
高くなる - 大卒のほうが給料が高く設定されているところが多いです。一般的に大卒、短大卒、専門学校卒で給与が変わります。歯科衛生士では、特に、病院、行政、一般企業に勤めた場合に、最終学歴が給料や年収に反映されます。
- 04専門学校や短大では
学べないことを学べる - 大学では、一年次は一般教養を学び、その後の仕事や生活の中でも活かせる場合も多いのです。また大学には、歯科医師の教授が配置されており、歯科界全体の知識を得ることができます。
究極の理由
4年制大学でしか学べない！
現在の（歯科）医療を取り巻く社会環境のキーワードとして、超高齢社会、健康寿命の延伸、オーラルフレイル、患者協働（チーム医療）、口腔と全身の関係、プレシジョン・メディシン等が挙げられます。このような中では、3大業務（歯科予防処置・歯科診療補助・歯科保健指導）を単にできるだけでは、国民の期待に応えられません。最新の深い学問的知識/課題解決能力＋高水準の技術も修得することが必要不可欠なのです。
これらは、4年制大学でしか学べないのです！！

「臨床歯科医学」の講義に加えて、実習も始まります。専門性に磨きをかけます。

機能的な先端設備が備わっている環境の中で学ぶことができます。例えば、講義室では、視聴覚機器が完備されています。また、チェア実習室では、実際の歯科診療室で使用されている機器が設置されています。

COURSE卒業後の進路
4年制大学を卒業した歯科衛生士では、歯科衛生士全体と比較して、病院、歯科衛生士養成機関、行政（地方自治体・保健所など）への就職が、格段に増えています。
これらの職場は、給料や社会保障が良いので人気があります。
このような職場への就職を希望する方には、4年制大学への進学を強くお勧めします。
